In the current season, Serbian soprano Sonja Šarić Kosovac makes her role debut as Brünnhilde (Götterdämmerung) in Bologna and will subsequently perform this part in Der Ring an einem Abend (Wagner/Loriot) as part of a seven-concert tour of Germany, including concerts in Berlin, Hamburg, Frankfurt, Stuttgart and Munich.
At the National Theatre in Belgrade, she makes her debut as Elisabetta (Don Carlo) and Amelia (Un ballo in maschera).
She performs in gala concerts at the Serbian National Theatre in Novi Sad and the National Theatre in Belgrade, and sings Dvořák’s Requiem at the Auditorio Nacional de Música in Madrid under the baton of Oksana Lyniv.

Sonja celebrated successful role debuts in previous seasons as Brünnhilde (Siegfried), Sieglinde (Walküre) and Freia (Rheingold) in the new production of Wagner’s Der Ring des Nibelungen at the Teatro Comunale di Bologna, and made her debut at the same theatre as Senta (Der fliegende Holländer).
Further major role debuts included Aida, Amelia (Simone Boccanegra), Alice Ford (Falstaff), the title roles in Norma and Maria Stuarda, Mimi (La Bohème), as well as Leonora (Il trovatore), Contessa Almaviva (Le nozze di Figaro), Madama Cortese (Il viaggio a Reims) and Nedda (Pagliacci) at Graz Opera.

Since 2023, the soprano has been a member of the ensemble at the National Theatre in Belgrade.

Guest engagements have taken her to the Teatro Comunale di Bologna, the Opéra National de Paris, Graz Opera, the Landestheater Linz, the Nationaltheater Mannheim, the Serbian National Theatre in Novi Sad, the Croatian National Theatre in Zagreb, the Moravian-Silesian National Theatre in Ostrava, and the Amsterdam Concertgebouw.
Sonja has also made guest appearances at the Salzburg Festival, the Baden-Baden Easter Festival and the Bamberg Summer Opera, and is regularly invited to perform at the international music festivals in Novi Sad and Belgrade.

Sonja performs internationally in concerts and recitals.
Her wide repertoire includes songs by Mahler, Rachmaninoff and R. Strauss.
In the concert repertoire, alongside Bach Mass in B minor & Christmas Oratorio, Handel Judas Maccabaeus and Vivaldi Gloria, her focus lies especially in the (late) Romantic period, with works such as Brahms Ein deutsches Requiem, Dvořák Requiem, Mahler Symphony No. 2, Rossini Stabat mater and Verdi Messa da Requiem.
In 2014, she made her Japanese debut with Beethoven Symphony No. 9.
Numerous concert performances (including regular collaborations with the Radio Televizija Srbije Symphony Orchestra) have been documented in recordings.

Sonja has worked with conductors such as Semyon Bychkov, Enrico Calesso, Marco Comin, Srboljub Dinić, Philippe Jordan, Dirk Kaftan, Roland Kluttig, Aleksandar Kojić, Oksana Lyniv, Marcus Merkel, Markus Poschner, Case Scaglione, Bojan Suđić, Simon Rattle, Franz Welser-Möst und Jap van Zweden.

Her achievements in international competitions include first prize at the 2021 Eva Marton Competition, first prize and the gold medal at the 2017 Maria Callas Grand Prix, and second prize at the 2019 Elizabeth Connell Prize for dramatic sopranos.
In 2019, she was awarded the Austrian Music Theatre Prize in the category "Best Young Singer" for her performance as Leonora in Verdi’s Il trovatore at Graz Opera.

From 2016 to 2019, Sonja was a member of the Graz Opera Studio.
She studied with Prof. Snežana Stamenković at the Mannheim University of Music and Performing Arts.
